Every now & then I get a craving for a little something sweet!
Raw desserts are one way people become interested in the world of raw foods. They're really simple to prepare, usually just mixing & blending a few ingredients together. I'm a big fan of looking around the kitchen to see what I've got, deciding what I'm in the mood for, then just making whatever strikes my fancy. Intuitive eating & preparing is something that kind of evolved along the way for me. I stopped relying on recipes except for a little guidance now & then. I throw a pinch of this or a handful of that, tasting along the way. I've never been disappointed with anything that I've come up with!
This is such a beautiful thing about raw foods, not just desserts! As long as I have my kitchen well stocked I can always make something simple & satisfying at a moments notice.
Whether I do use a recipe or just create something on my own, I can truly say that
I LOVE everything I eat now ~ guilt free! Desserts are now an occasional treat that I really enjoy. After a lifetime of dieting this is really very exciting! to me!
I don't make the cacao ones like I have below too often, I make them for a holiday or to share the recipe with family & friends. I prefer something like a date with a few almonds or a hemp shake with fruit when I'm feeling like something sweet. But it's great to have a few special desserts recipes that are simple & delicious because....
they are one of life's Simple Pleasures!!
Here's a few sweet treats I've prepared recently...
Coconut cacao fudge bars
1 1/2 cup pitted dates
1/3 cup cacao powder1 tsp vanilla powder
4 Tbsp coconut flakes (save 1 Tbsp to sprinkle on top)
handful walnuts for bar ( set aside a few to top bars)
Blend all the above ingredients well in food processor
form into 1 large bar
top with set aside shredded coconut & walnuts
refrigerate overnight or put in freezer for a while to firm up
cut into squares
You can also enjoy them as soon as they're ready!! Whichever you prefer :)
